Insulation Services for a Sustainable Future
Eco-friendly Insulation
Low-E PERF is made of:
- Recycled closed-cell polyethylene foam at its core — this is plastic foam that has been recovered and reused rather than made entirely from new virgin material.
- High-purity aluminium facings on either side (up to about 99.4 % pure aluminium) that reflect radiant heat.
🔹 Recycled Content
- The closed-cell polyethylene centre comes from recycled material, which both reduces waste and gives Low-E many of its beneficial properties (lightweight, moisture-resistant, non-toxic).
- Some product information notes that Low-E products overall are made from around 40 % recycled material, with the recycled foam core making up the majority of that figure, though the exact percent can vary by product variant.

- Using recycled foam helps reduce landfill waste and lowers the environmental footprint versus entirely virgin plastic insulation cores.
- It also keeps the product light, fibre-free, and safe to handle, which adds to its environmental and indoor-air quality benefits.

Why we out perform mulitlayer quilts or 'spacewraps'
1. No Fibres = No Itch, No Dust, No Degradation
SuperQuilt and similar multifoils contain fibrous layers (polyester or glass fibre).
These can:
- Shed dust over time; itchy to handle; compress and lose thermal performance; provide small cavities where moisture can settle - Low-E has no fibres at all, so none of those problems exist and consistent for the lifetime of the loft.
2. No Condensation Traps
Multifoils are built like a sandwich: foil + wadding + foil + wadding (up to 19 layers).
Those internal layers can trap moisture, especially if ventilation isn’t perfect.
Low-E Perf is:
- Single-core closed-cell recycled foam → moisture can’t penetrate it; perforated facing → allows breathability in loft environments; mould-resistant + vapour-neutral
This means no hidden condensation pockets, no slow damp buildup, and no loft smell.
3. Class A Fire Rating (most multifoils are Class E or lower)
SuperQuilt is normally Class E or Class F, meaning:
- It can ignite; it spreads flame; it produces smoke - Low-E Perf is Class A fire rated, meaning:

SuperQuilt needs:
- Multiple layers; air gaps both sides; stapling + battens; extra work and extra cost
Low-E Perf:
- Is thin, flexible, and lightweight; installs directly and easily; doesn’t require special spacing; creates a clean, neat finish - less labour, less mess, more consistency.
5. No “Marketing Thickness” Tricks
Some multifoils list a high number of layers to imply higher performance.
But more layers = more trapped air = more moisture risk.
6. Breathability + Reflectivity = Better Energy Balance
SuperQuilt relies heavily on trapped-air insulation like old-style quilts.
Low-E uses:
- Reflective radiant barrier technology (reflects up to 97% radiant heat); breathable perforated design to avoid condensation.
7. Eco-Friendly Recycled Core
SuperQuilt uses:
- Mostly virgin fibres; multiple chemical adhesives; mixed materials (harder to recycle)
Low-E is up to 40% recycled content
